Artistic Director, Lee

Working on program content, keeping it simple. Have had a lot of new members join along with returning members.  The concert is in 2 weeks!

Assistant Artistic Director, Jessie

Finding a venue on short notice of the season is proving to be difficult. I would like to suggest having the Mighty Mo season run as follows: Spring concert in April 2022, and Summer concert in June 2022. Then pick up each fall with a Fall Fundraising event (starting Fall 2022) such as a Bingo or Trivia night that the fundraising committee takes the lead in planning.

With this new proposed schedule, we can perform at a fall signature fundraising event, have a spring concert that fits well with the concert band schedule, then do a summer concert where we can play more challenging repertoire and have longer rehearsals (as the concert band finishes early May). We’d also be open for performances at Fringe Festival in July, depending on ensemble availability.

Nothing new to add.  Open to feedback regarding shifting the season.  The MAC grant covers us for 2 concerts before June 30th.

Board Chair, Christian

So happy to see everyone and have people playing again! Nothing else to report .

Treasurer, Nathan

Financial documentation available upon request.

Business Operations, Ian

  • All the paperwork has been submitted to the Gem for this season. Their responsiveness leaves something to be desired but we should be good for October.

  • Working to get a truck secured for October. Reached out late so may need to engage Penske if City Rent-A-Truck doesn't have availability

  • Ticketing platform is up and running for Season 19

    • Take note of things we would like to see improved. If I can’t do it, we’ll submit a ticket to Flipcause as a suggestion for improvement

  • A couple needs:

    • Programs for the various concerts so I can put them on the ticketing platform

    • If we want different art for each concert on the ticketing platform, please send to me

  • October Concert - Programs:

    • We should be getting materials to print very shortly.

We should keep in mind that if we have to move dates/cancel/refund tickets, it is more cumbersome if we move the money out of FlipCause.

For dues-paying members complimentary tickets, Ian will set up a code for members to use to reserve their comp ticket.

Erin will handle front of house for the concert and bring her camera.

Kelly, Social Director

Jeanine, Librarian

Nothing to report.

Nothing new to report.  Lee hopes to have holiday music solidified by this weekend for Jeanine to upload/scan.

Webmaster, Erin

Website updated with current concert info, I still need the fluffy descriptions we usually put on events, and the past-seasons for season 18 and 19, I think with Covid archiving those weren’t high priority for anyone.

Alex also had an idea for a new merch that shows all pride flags, see new business.

Committee Reports

Fundraising, Rameka

Working on timpani campaign content and budget.  I will hand it over to Ian and FlipCause ASAP!

Do we know how many copies of the Conference recording we have?

We will check on the number of CD’s we have at rehearsal on Thurs.  Rochester Brewing’s Event Coordinator left, David is managing in the interim.  Rameka will reach out to David to talk about a spring Bad Drag event.

Marketing, Grace

Nothing new to report

Membership, Alex

James Arcano has volunteered to take point on reaching out to members to get membership spotlight rolling. Anything that has not already been recorded will be edited by a member of the membership committee to be determined.

Kelly mentioned in the first rehearsal that he would like to pass on the mantle of Social Director to another person if possible. Is this something that we’d like to have membership take over? We discussed the possibility of a subcommittee focused entirely on planning socials to draw new members into getting involved.

I’d like to send an email out to the educators within the band to do a temp check on doing a school supply drive or winter clothing drive for their classrooms/schools. After getting responses, the membership committee will get rolling on those.

Alex will reach out to Kelly regarding Membership Committee absorbing social events as a sub-committee.  He will also send out the temperature check to active member educators regarding a supply/clothing drive.  There are other options such as book drives, etc.  We will put out feelers to judge the need and benefit to our membership and community.

Pride Bands Alliance Delegates for Houston

MAFB gets 2 delegates for the meeting to vote on our behalf.  Christian nominates Nathan Brown and he accepts.  Christian nominates himself as a delegate, Alex seconded and Christian accepts.  Ruth makes a motion of acclimation to accept Christian and Nathan as delegates.  The motion was accepted by acclamation.

All Flags Pride Merch (Erin)

On Alex’s suggestion I made variations of our logos in all pride flags (see below). If I am missing any please let me know, I don’t want to leave anyone out, I would ideally like to get them on the website before our first concert so we can bring them up during the concert or in the program to try to sell some. We also have the slogan (pride in every note) in each variation.

Missing Aromantic, ally and Bear flag

Let Erin know if we are missing any other representation. Erin will work on getting the t-shirts up before the concert so we can advertise them.

We will need the final program content by Monday COB, so we can work on proofs.

Executive Session
