MAFB Coronavirus Mitigation Plan

Hello Mid America Freedom Band family,

Due to the growing concerns over the COVID-19 Coronavirus, we are taking the following steps to mitigate the health risks for our members, those who support us, and those who work with us. Please note the following procedures

  1. Do not come to rehearsals, events, or concerts if you are ill or have been exposed.

  2. Snacks are discontinued until further notice; social time will still be adhered to.

  3. Limit physical contact with others. Consent, while always appropriate, is even more encouraged now even for hugs and handshakes.

  4. Wash your hands before and after rehearsal especially if moving equipment.

  5. We will ensure the bathrooms are stocked with soap and paper towels. Please wash your hands thoroughly. Sing the melody to Stars and Stripes Forever.

  6. Wipe down shared surfaces like flags and mallets at the end of rehearsal with provided sanitary wipes.

  7. Brass players- bring a towel for condensation instead of emptying onto the floor.  Wash the towel after every rehearsal. Clean up all remaining condensation left behind from brass instruments with provided sanitary wipes.

  8. No sharing of wind instruments or mouthpieces.

  9. Disinfect your reeds and reed cases. If you are sick, stop playing on that reed immediately and throw it out.

  10. Wash swabs and instrument cleaning items in hot water and soap. They are great to throw in a delicates bag with your laundry.

  11. Programs at the concert will be be picked up by the patron and not handed to them.

  12. Tickets will be looked at and scanned but not taken from the patron.

  13. Front of house staff and volunteers will be given gloves to use for handling cash and cards. Encourage patrons to swipe their own card though if possible.

  14. If desired, wipe down chair before use.

The goals of these policies is to minimize risk and exposure while keeping us healthy.

Sincerely,

Your MAFB Staff and Board
